SOS International a/s, the leading assistance organisation in the Nordic countries has signed a purchase agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Global Medical Support A/S from NLA Holding AS as of 1 November 2008.
- "GMS is interesting for SOS because they have strong competencies within air medicine and international air ambulance flights, which is essential to SOS in order to be able to provide the best services to the customers", says CEO Bo Uggerhøj from SOS.
- "Add to this their competencies and experiences in acute medicine, medical emergency service and evacuation for the offshore industry which is a new business area for SOS. We expect to see synergies and development in many areas, not least within the areas of activity of the organisation such as our 24/7 manning, medical and technical networks and IT systems".
- "Being knowledge companies, service organisations like SOS and GMS very much depend on the extensive competencies of their employees", Bo Uggerhøj adds. "Our employees in GMS as well as SOS are indeed our biggest assets in relation to SOS extensive growth ambitions for the coming years".
Nordic consolidation is only part of SOS? strategy with the aim of being closer to the customers and being able to provide an even better service. This strategy has resulted in acquisitions and setups in Sweden and Finland, and now in Norway as well.
The transaction is subject to the approval of the Norwegian competition authority.
